Brampton's First Good Neighbour: Joanne Brassard
Joanne Brassard, a resident on Panda Lane, is a Good Neighbour for several reasons.
Each year, she organizes the popular Heat Wave Party at the Professors Lake Recreation Centre. This February dinner and dance event brings out the entire neighbourhood for some fun-filled winter-relief.
In her spare time, Joanne also drives seniors to the Howden Ladies Club meetings, and sits on the Parent Council at St. John Bosco school.
Joanne is a friend to her neighbours, and never hesitates to help when it is needed.
Brampton's First Greatest Neighbourhood: Leacrest St. - Lascelles Blvd.
From a giant, annual street picnic with prizes, food and games for the kids, to working with the city to have a new stop sign installed and clean up illegal apartments reported in the area, the residents in this neighbourhood are vigilant in making sure they are doing whatever they can to keep their community safe, friendly and clean.
The residents, who live on Leacrest Street, Lascelles Boulevard and sections of Leander Street, have met with Peel police to learn how to keep the area safe and free of gangs, they organize two full-scale neighbourhood cleanups every year, including pulling shopping carts out of a nearby pond, and, of course, they have a welcoming committee for new residents.
